North Ocean City – An Untapped Paradise

Have you always dreamed of your own place at the beach? Worried that the downtown crowds will be too much for your family? North Ocean City has pristine beaches, a quiet small-town feel, and proximity to the excitement.

In addition to nice beaches to play on, North Ocean City offers a wide variety of fun.

Northside Park is a beautiful oasis on 125th with fields, a playground, walking paths, picnic areas, and a long crabbing pier – one of OC’s best-kept secrets. The park is one of the few Fish-For-Free areas in OC. No license needed for children or adults with excellent crabbing. The park hosts popular family-friendly Sundaes in the Park with live music and ice cream for a small fee.

Love Mini Golf? One of OC’s best mini golf locations is in North OC at 136th St. They have outdoor and indoor courses available and are open rain or shine. Go to their website for a money-saving coupon.

Thunder Lagoon Water Park is located a hop, skip, and a jump away, right over the Maryland-Delaware state line. A family can easily spend a day or two riding the many slides or lounging through the Lazy River.

Great bayside restaurants include Fresco’s, Macky’s, Fager’s Island, BJ’s, and Fishtails. Behind Macky’s on 54th St. are some great jet ski rentals as well. Other nice restaurants in North OC include the Abbey Burger Bistro, Phillips Seafood Buffet, and Crabcake Factory.

A must-see in North OC is the Art League on 94th St. This is a venue for local artists to exhibit original works of art and for the public to take classes such as pottery or watercolors. The first Friday of the month features a public reception with light refreshments and exhibit openings. Camps for kids, a lending library, and a room to watch artists at work are also a part of the league.

Eat healthy? Check out the Farmers Market one morning. Located on 142nd, they are open 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

North Ocean City remains an untapped paradise minutes from the hustle and bustle. Whether you want excitement or to relax in solitude, your ideal beach home awaits you.
