Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times of the year. In addition to quality time and delicious food with friends and family, I always take a few moments to remember all of the wonderful things I have to be thankful. I am incredibly lucky for the beautiful life I lead on the Eastern Shore. And I strive to give back to this amazing community as much as possible.
Giving Tuesday is next Tuesday and a fantastic way to give back. Giving Tuesday brings charities, families, businesses, and people from around the shore together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity. Giving Tuesday is an online giving event that provides nonprofits the opportunity to inspire the community.
The 1 Year to Empowerment Program is designed to enable teenage girls to make healthy choices, build trusting friendships, and set attainable goals. The program promotes empowerment through 12 monthly activities that target mental and physical wellness and teach valuable skills to live healthy, balanced lives.
The Art League of Ocean City’s mission is to promote artistic expression and appreciation for the creative arts in our community. The core values are respect, integrity, creativity, excellence, and empowerment.
The Assateague Coastal Trust’s mission is to promote and encourage the protection of the health, productivity, and sustainability of the coastal bay’s watershed of Delmarva through advocacy, education, and conservation.
Assateague Island Alliance partners with the Assateague Island National Seashore to promote the awareness and protection of the island’s wildlife and natural resources for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
Atlantic General Hospital is a community-centered organization, proud to serve patients of Worcester, Wicomico, Somerset, Accomack, and Sussex counties. The purpose of the Berlin Heritage Foundation is education, with an emphasis on cultural history and historic preservation. Its focus is on the Town of Berlin and the surrounding area. The principal method of education is through the preservation and operation of the Calvin B. Taylor House Museum, utilizing the facility as a house museum, a gallery, and a venue for concerts and other appropriate events.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported, one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. It is the mission of the Eastern Shore Ballet Theatre to promote awareness and appreciation of classical and contemporary ballet on the Eastern Shore. Rackliffe House Trust, a private non-profit foundation, has entered into a long-term lease with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of restoring the notable 18th-century plantation house overlooking Sinepuxent Bay. The property is open to the public and focuses on the life and times of the early seaside “merchant-planters.”
U.S. Kennels Incorporated is a 501(C3) Non-Profit Organization who provides trained service dogs, free of charge, as well as supplies to our combat-wounded veterans who suffer from PTSD, TBI, and other affiliated medical disabilities. We pair up veterans with rescued dogs from local shelters and train them together as a therapeutic remedy. This creates a strong bond between the veteran and their forever companion. “Saving Veterans One Paw at A Time”

WSW is a grass-roots organization founded in 1993. All of the funding stays here on Delmarva to provide FREE services and support to local breast cancer survivors, their families and friends. Our services include (but are not limited to) wigs, hats, scarves, support groups and mentoring services, lending library, prosthesis, post-surgery “piglet pillows” and lift chair loaner program.
